What is limewashing?

Limewashing is a traditional facade technique in which a thick lime plaster is manually spread over the facade. The mixture (a combination of lime and pigment) is applied in thin layers, allowing the bricks to remain subtly visible beneath the finish. This creates a typically weathered appearance that radiates character.

Unlike, for example, cork spray, limewashing follows the substrate less precisely. Because of its thicker consistency, small details and textures of the masonry are softened or even hidden. This is exactly what gives limewashing its charming, rustic look.

Why choose limewashing?

Limewashing is also ideal if you love natural materials and a warm facade appearance, perfect for country homes or character buildings. Moreover, this finish allows your walls to breathe, helping to prevent moisture problems.
