Stylish, durable and functional
Pitched roof
Roof renovation by Cleys
A pitched roof has been the most popular roof shape in Flanders for decades – and that’s no coincidence. This construction is durable, stylish, and easy to insulate. Moreover, a pitched roof adds character to your home and creates extra space under the roof, for example an attic room.
At Cleys, roof renovation is first and foremost about insulation and a durable finish, making your home more comfortable and energy-efficient. Additional elements such as a roof window, dormer or roof extension? That’s possible too, but always as a complement to a thorough roof renovation.

The roof structure
1. Existing structure
The load-bearing structure is almost always wood. During renovation, it’s important to check its condition. Moisture, mould, damage or sagging? A solid base is essential for lasting results!
2. Vapour barrier
A vapour barrier is installed over the existing structure, fully covering the roof without gaps. This prevents warm, moist air from entering the insulation and causing condensation.
3. PIR insulation
Next comes PIR insulation. It combines excellent thermal performance with limited thickness, keeping warmth inside in winter and the attic cooler in summer. At CLEYS, you can choose from different insulation thicknesses.
4. Underlay
A breathable, water-repellent layer that protects the roof from rain and wind while letting moisture escape.
5. Battens
Ventilation battens and support battens ensure both airflow and a strong base for the roof covering.
6. Roof finish
Finally, the visible finish: tiles or slates. This determines the look of your home and provides lasting protection.
Quality roof tiles
For the finishing, we deliberately choose durable and aesthetic roof tiles. These ceramic tiles withstand all weather conditions and are available in different colours and styles:
- Monier: an aesthetic and budget-friendly concrete tile with a long lifespan.
- Pottelberg Stormpan: a versatile roof tile suitable for almost any roof.
- Actua: a straight, large tile, ideal for a modern look.
- Datura: an authentic style, perfect for rural or classic homes.
- Tradiva: a gently curved tile in a wide range of shades.
- Slates: a luxurious and durable roofing with a classic, rustic appearance.
This way, you always find a roof covering that matches your taste and the style of your home!
Extra finishes for a complete result
A roof renovation doesn’t stop at insulation and tiles. Often, additional elements are what truly complete your roof. At Cleys, we provide a total finish, fully tailored to your home.
Gutters
Gutters not only serve a functional purpose but also contribute to the look of your home. We offer solutions ranging from complete replacement to new cladding of the existing gutter.
- Zinc hanging gutter: a classic, durable solution that requires little maintenance and suits both modern and traditional homes.
- Box gutter: with a renewable interior and exterior, neatly finished in the style and colour of your façade.
Roof windows
Want more light and space in your attic? Then roof windows are the perfect choice. At Cleys, we integrate windows seamlessly into the new roof structure, without compromising insulation performance. You can choose fixed or opening models, operated manually or electrically. We work with Velux and Skylux, reliable partners that guarantee quality, watertightness, and comfort.
Detail finishing
The smallest details often make the biggest difference. Think of roof edge profiles, new fascia boards, overhangs in wood or aluminium, and neat finishes around chimneys, roof penetrations or skylights. These details create a refined appearance and extend the lifespan of your roof.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
