What is a brick pattern? 🧱
A brick pattern is a façade finish in which the structure of bricks is created directly in the plaster layers of your façade.
1️⃣ First, the façade is carefully plastered, usually in combination with façade insulation.
2️⃣ Next, the typical joints and brick structure are worked out in detail.
3️⃣ This creates a realistic relief that closely resembles traditional brickwork!
The result? A façade with the authentic look of brick, without actually having to build a new outer layer of facing bricks.
‼️ A brick pattern can also be applied with or without façade insulation, depending on your home and the planned renovation.
What are the benefits of a brick pattern? 🤔
- Authentic look of a brick façade
- Budget-friendly alternative to options such as brick slips
- You choose the pattern and shape of the bricks yourself

- Possible with or without façade insulation
- Various colours and finishes available
This gives your home a completely refreshed appearance without losing its character.
How is a brick pattern applied? 👷🏼
The main difference compared with standard façade plastering lies in the finish.
Once the façade has been prepared and plastered, the brick pattern is carefully created in the finishing layer. The joints and bricks are shaped one by one to achieve the typical appearance of traditional brickwork.
You can choose the size and shape of the bricks yourself. For example, you might prefer a classic brick in a stretcher bond, a longer and narrower brick in a cross bond, or large traditional sections instead of a brick pattern. All of these options are possible.
The façade can then be finished with, for example, paint, limewash or spray cork. This makes a wide range of styles and colours possible, from a classic red-brick look to a lighter or more modern façade.
Brick pattern or brick slips?
If you want to create the look of a brick façade during a façade renovation with external wall insulation, you will often choose between brick slips and a brick pattern.
With brick slips, thin slices of brick, taken from a full brick, are applied to the façade. With a brick pattern, the structure of the bricks is created directly in the plaster layer.
A brick pattern is therefore generally quicker to install and can be a more budget-friendly alternative. At the same time, you still retain the typical relief and appearance of a traditionally built brick façade!
Which solution is most suitable depends on your façade, your budget and the look you want to achieve.
It does not always have to look traditional either. By playing with colours, joints and finishes, a brick pattern can also give your façade a much more modern appearance.
Is a brick pattern easy to maintain? 🫧
A brick pattern requires relatively little maintenance.
Because the brick structure forms part of the façade finish itself, no separately laid bricks are needed. In addition, there are fewer traditional joints where dirt and moisture can accumulate.
As with any façade finish, it is of course still important to regularly check the condition of the façade and have any dirt or staining cleaned in good time.
How much does a façade with a brick pattern cost? 💶
The exact price of a brick pattern depends on several factors, such as the surface area of the façade, the condition of the substrate, the chosen finish and whether you also want to insulate the façade.
